It has been quite a while since my last post, so a quick recap of what some of my goals are should be in order.

First, daily I have been doing pushups with a short goal of 13 every day. I have doubled that, and am now up to at least 30 a day. I didn't do any yesterday though, work has been extremely killer, and my wrist has been feeling a bit funny. I promise though that I have been continuing other than that.
Another goal of mine is to carve my own pipe, and that has been going a little slow due to time constraint. I have just about enough time to get home and shower before my son comes home, and I play with him. I have to say that no matter the goal, he comes first.
One of my others, getting a new job, is not going as planned. I was hoping by now that I would have something else lined up, but that isn't the case. As of now, I am still at the same job, and in the same frame of unhappiness in that aspect.
Another goal I have set for myself is to get back into art work. Some may say that working on the above mentioned pipe may constitute as that, but I am looking to get back into making things from nothing. It would do me well to complete a design I have been working on, I have made a small lockup, and plan on completing it soon.
We live in strange times, a world of throw away, and disposables. I would like to see a change and hope my ideas can help in the future.

Hard goings

Better late than...
OK, so missing a couple of days of blogging has been painful on my part, but was necessary with all of the things going on. First and foremost, I missed one day of pushups. Slacking off makes me feel terrible, but a necessary evil when it comes to family.
I took my son to the pool for the first time and had a blast! Some may say this could take the place of pushups, but I don't feel it is the same. Besides, my son is only a year old, so my focus was on him instead of doing laps.
I achieved a goal of talking to one of my favorite authors, R.A. Salvatore on Reddit.com. It may not have been an actual discussion, but he answered some of my questions, and it was thrilling! I had heard he was an interesting guy to talk to, and I wasn't disappointed. He has a new book coming out tomorrow called "Charon's Claw" which I recommend to any fantasy fan.
One of the other reasons that I missed out was the fact that my new pipe kit came in the mail. I have been wanting to try my hand at carving a pipe for a few years now, and have finally got around to doing it. I have unpacked the pipe kit sent from Tinsky in Montana, and started working on it instantly. As I have limited space, and access to tools, I am working with an old dremel tool, knives, and sand paper. The way it is going, I may need a few weeks before I can get to the point where I can start detailing it down.
Down below there are pictures to show how progress is going, leave a comment, or just enjoy! I hope this helps others to start working on their own goals and projects to occupy time!

Missed a few
Well I missed 2 days of blogging, and I am going to make up for it. There were 2 good reasons why, though. I spoke with one of my favorite authors, and my pipe kit came in the mail.
I will be posting about both later tonight, but for now, I need say that I am still working on my pushups, 20 again yesterday and the day before.

Still going strong!
Well, I have continued some of my goals, tonight after work I did 20 pushups, and cleaned the house for 20 minutes. This may not seem like a big deal, but I am trying to figure out time. How much time do I really have to devote to things?
I know that once my pipe comes, I will be giddy as a schoolboy, and want to jump right into it. I can't do that, I need to study the block I get, and research some of the pipes out there. I went for a straight Lucite stem, as I have many options available to go along with it.
There is an idea that I already have, which may or may not work out, but it will look really good, and be functional at the same time. My goal to complete within the next year is to start working on some sculptures to sell.
I am not talking about huge pieces....yet. Those will come around once I get established. Some small pieces that I will be working on are going to be cell phone holders, and maybe some Christmas ornaments.
As of now though, keeping with the goals is working out great. I have also set a goal of getting a better job, and I am giving myself a month to attempt to complete it. There are irons in the fire, and I have been networking as much as possible. Just this little bit has helped me bear the job I have for a bit longer. I am not interested in just a job, I want to continue to grow, and I am unable to do that currently.
Well, going to try to get more sleep!

Late posting!
Well, I have completed the goals set forward today. I actually did about 20 minutes of house cleaning, and 16 pushups. I did this around 5 in the afternoon after work. There is a new goal I am starting, which is getting a new job.
To do this, I am breaking it up into smaller steps, starting with applications, and networking.
As I said, late night posting, I will post later tomorrow about my accomplishments and further explain some goal sets.

Day 2
Officially, I have completed some of the tasks that I have put forward to myself. My goals to do pushups everyday has been fulfilled, and 15 minutes of house work every day is done. My goal of trimming my tree out front has been accomplished, which is part of a larger goal of cleaning and organizing the front of my house. I am finding that keeping a track of the small tasks to accomplish larger goals is keeping my focus in check. As I stated, my pushups are working well. My overall goal for a year is 5000 pushups. I am keeping track of this with an app I found for Androids called simply Goaltracker. It has an option for a numeric value, settings for a year, and tracks the percentage completed. This could help you if you have problems visualizing your goals, and tracking them as I do.

Resetting my life at 35.

I am not a great man. Good at times, I work hard daily to provide for my family while drinking like a fool and depressing myself. Don't get me wrong, I have a wonderful wife, and a son I would do anything for. I have a good job, I despise it, but for now it is a source of income.
After getting home from the daily grind, I play with my son for a bit, and then start on video games. All the while, beer is flowing in. It's not ALL that I do, cleaning, cooking, watching television, and sometimes other activities like going to the ocean. I enjoy playing video games, and have another blog reviewing them. If you want, you can view it here: http://goo.gl/tuJWY.
I never really thought about my future until my son was born. When I thought about it, it made me feel pretty insignificant, and useless. No need for pity, we dig our own graves here.
I realized I needed to change, I see other people out there happy and doing things that I would like to do. Which is why I started this blog. The purpose was to help others help themselves while chronologically keeping track of my own journey.
I never really was a goal setter, though I have accomplished many short term goals. If anything, I am a hard worker. I have steadily kept my nose to the grind since I was young, though I never really had an actual projected outcome. I have been a soldier, a bouncer, a student, a construction worker, a farmer, homeless, and am currently in underground utilities.
Undertaking this process will hopefully lead me to my ultimate goal along the way, to be happier with life in general.
I have set this blog as one of my goals to help me meet some of my harder goals. This will be a process that may take time, but I will try to blog about my goals and accomplishments once per day.
One of my other goals was to carve a pipe out of briar. I smoke a pipe regularly, probably too regularly. When I was younger I attended an art school, and completed an Associates Degree in Industrial Technology. I did absolutely nothing with my degree after graduating, which from what I understand, happens quite often.
I digress, I will be working on a pipe design that will be hand carved, though the holes will be predrilled into the briar. This piece will cost me $35 to start, I already have tools for carving. I have taken my first step toward completing this step, and have ordered the briar. I can't wait! This is going to be a great experience!
One of my other goals was to get back into shape. I have had a gym membership for over a year, and have barely gone. I will be going 3 times a week, but every day I have set a goal of doing pushups. Right now, the goal is 15, and I have done them today. Eventually, I plan on doing at least 50 a day, I feel this will help me to stay focused on the tasks at hand.
I will continue to post regularly about this, and hope it helps someone out there to realize that small goals add up to a bigger goal in the end.
